Wise
Cross-border transfers and multi-currency accounts, with local bank details in several major currencies.
Wise moves money between currencies at the mid-market rate with an explicit fee, which is the whole proposition: the cost is the fee, not a spread hidden in the exchange rate.
For a business, the useful part is the account rather than the transfer. Local bank details in a set of major currencies mean an invoice can be paid domestically in several countries at once, and the balance held and converted rather than forced home on receipt.
It is not a merchant acquirer and does not take card payments on a checkout. Comparing it against a gateway here is a category error — it belongs next to Payoneer, not next to Adyen.
What Wise costs
Wise quotes per merchant. What you are offered depends on your volume, your industry, the countries you sell in, your card mix and your risk profile — so a published headline rate would not be your rate. Ask them for a quote against your own numbers.
What the last check found
Deliberately sparse. The help page reached lists destination countries rather than a currency list, and the currency codes available from it are derived from link URLs rather than stated, so none are recorded. Headquarters is London on the strength of the LSE listing and UK regulation, which is not stated on the page used. This listing is a placeholder with an honest shape: it exists so Wise is present and comparable, and needs a pass against Wise's own currency and country documentation before its coverage means anything.
From the last check against Wise’s own documentation. Coverage changes; confirm anything you are about to build on.
