What the last check found

No country or currency is recorded for this listing. A check on 2026-10-21 found the coverage it previously carried was not stated by any source — most often it had been inferred from where the company is regulated, or taken from one feature of a much larger set. Where the write-up below refers to a recorded country or currency, this line is the correction.

NOT a generic category, so not_a_method does not apply. "Citi" is a brand, and this directory already lists issuer brands as methods — backend/src/db/seed/03_methods.js carries shinhan/Shinhan Card, hyundai/Hyundai Card, lotte/Lotte Card, hana, kookmin, gwangju, jeju, jeonbuk.

"Citi" is not a rail. Antom's enumeration reference lists it under **Card brands**, not payment methods: `| KR | South Korea | Citi | CITI |`, a value passed in `paymentMethod.paymentMethodMetaData.selectedCardBrand` on the generic `CARD` method. Its product page, South Korean Cards, names "Citi Card" as one of 23 supported domestic Korean brands beside Shinhan, BC, Samsung, KB and Hyundai, and states buyer country South Korea and processing currency KRW. The feature flags belong to that product: refunds and partial refunds yes, chargeback/dispute yes, 365-day refund window, 7-day authorization validity, installments 2–12 months above 50,000 KRW — but recurring (MIT) and 3D Secure are both explicitly unsupported, as are partial and multiple captures. Two Citi-specific carve-outs matter before quoting installment terms: Antom says interest-free installments "will not be provided" for Citi-issued cards in 2024, and that BC-card interest-free coverage reaches "Citi BC (excluding Citi Visa)". Adyen is the only other pay-in source, listing "Korea Citibank" among available banks for Bank Transfer via KCP (KR, KRW). Everywhere else Citi is a payout destination rather than an acceptance method: EBANX bank codes for Citibank Colombia (1009), Citibank del Perú (007) and CITI MEXICO (124); Rapyd's for Japan (0401), Indonesia (031) and Malaysia (CITIMYKL). Adjacent brands are distinct — Mexico's Citi is Citibanamex (Adyen POS issuer BANAMEX), Poland's is Przelewy24's "Pay with CitiHandlowy" (119), India's is "Citibank Retail" inside UPI AutoPay. Documentation is silent on two things: payouts to Citi as a method, and whether Citibank Korea still issues these cards at all.

One caveat on identity: the review could not settle beyond doubt that this is the right entity, so read the country and currency here as the best available answer rather than a confirmed one.

  1. Antom — Payment method enumeration values · docs.antom.comcountriesmethodsUsed for Establishes identity and that this is NOT a payment method: the "Card brands" table (headed Payment method region / Issuing country / Card brand / Enum value) contains `| KR | South Korea | Citi | CITI |`, and the page states the enum is used in `paymentMethod.paymentMethodMetaData.selectedCardBrand` on the Card method. Supports countries=[KR]. The same page's Przelewy24 bank list gives "Pay with CitiHandlowy" (119), establishing Poland's Citi as a separate brand, and its "For Korean Virtual Account" bank list does NOT include Citi.Checked 20 October 2026
  2. Antom — South Korean Cards · docs.antom.comcountriescurrencieslicensingcapabilitiesUsed for Primary source for every recorded field. Names "Citi Card" in the list of "all supported South Korean local card brands" (23 brands). Properties table states Buyer country/region = South Korea (countries=[KR]) and Processing currency = KRW (currencies=[KRW]). Feature flags: Refunds ✔, Partial refunds ✔, Chargeback/Dispute ✔ (the three recorded features); Recurring payments (MIT) ❌ and 3D ❌, so neither recurring nor 3D Secure is recorded. Also the source for the 365-day refund period, 7-day authorization validity, installments 2–12 months at ≥50,000 KRW, and the Citi-specific notes that interest-free installment "will not be provided" for Citi-issued cards in 2024 and that BC covers "Citi BC (excluding Citi Visa)".Checked 20 October 2026
  3. Adyen — Bank Transfer via KCP · docs.adyen.comcountriescurrenciesmethodscapabilitiesUsed for Second, independent gateway naming Citi in Korea: "Korea Citibank" appears in the Available banks list. Supports found_in=[Adyen] and corroborates KR/KRW — the page's table states Payment type Online Banking, redirect flow, Countries KR, Currencies KRW, with refunds and partial refunds supported and recurring and chargebacks not. Note these flags describe the KCP rail, not Citi, so they were not recorded as Citi's features.Checked 20 October 2026
  4. Adyen — Payment methods catalog (113 methods) · docs.adyen.commethodsUsed for Negative evidence: Adyen's full method catalog contains no method named Citi or Citibank. Same negative result for the Airwallex matrix (www.airwallex.com/docs/payments/payment-methods.md), Antom's method catalog (docs.antom.com/payment_methods.md) and Stripe's support matrix (docs.stripe.com/payments/payment-methods/payment-method-support.md) — Citi appears in none as a method, which is why it is recorded as a card brand rather than a rail.Checked 20 October 2026
  5. dLocal — documentation index · docs.dlocal.comcountriesmethodsUsed for Negative evidence establishing "nobody publishes it" rather than "I could not find it": this index names dLocal's real pages; I fetched all 151 of its /docs/*.md pages (every country page: India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Mexico and the rest) and none mentions Citi. The same exhaustive check over Mollie (486 pages), Checkout.com (178 payment-method pages, whose nav lists every method name) and Worldline's sitemap (52 method pages) also returned nothing.Checked 20 October 2026
  6. EBANX — UPI Autopay Overview (India) · docs.ebanx.commethodsUsed for Shows Citi appearing as a payer bank inside another rail rather than as a method: the participating-bank table row "Citibank Retail | Foreign Bank | NA | ₹100,000 INR | ₹100,000 INR". Cited in notes as an adjacent Indian brand; deliberately NOT used to add IN or INR, because the method there is UPI AutoPay, not Citi.Checked 20 October 2026
  7. EBANX — Payout bank codes, Colombia · docs.ebanx.comcountriescapabilitiesUsed for Supports the notes claim that outside Korea Citi is documented only as a payout destination: bank code 1009 = Citibank Colombia. The companion page countries-peru.md gives 007 = Citibank del Perú. Not used for country rows, since a payout bank code is not acceptance coverage.Checked 20 October 2026
  8. EBANX — Payout bank codes, Mexico · docs.ebanx.comcountriescapabilitiesUsed for Supports the notes claim about Mexico: payout bank code 40124 / 124 = CITI MEXICO. Not used for a country row.Checked 20 October 2026
  9. Rapyd — Bank payout, Malaysia · docs.rapyd.netcountriescurrenciescapabilitiesUsed for Further payout-only evidence: Citibank listed with SWIFT CITIMYKL. Companion pages bank-payout-japan.md (Citibank, code 0401) and bank-payout-indonesia.md (CITIBANK (INDONESIA), 031) give the same for Japan and Indonesia. Cited in notes; not used for country or currency rows.Checked 20 October 2026
  10. Adyen — Mexico installments (point of sale) · docs.adyen.comcapabilitiesUsed for Supports the notes claim that Mexico's Citi brand is Citibanamex, not Citi: "Citibanamex installments program: BANAMEX", one of five Mexican card-installment programs Adyen supports. Guards against mis-filing a Mexican Citibanamex row under this slug.Checked 20 October 2026
  11. Citi — What is Citi Flex Pay · citi.comcurrenciesmethodscapabilitiesintegrationsUsed for Operator's own site, checked because no gateway documents a method called Citi. Establishes that Citi's only checkout-facing consumer product is Citi Flex Pay — an installment plan on an existing Citi credit card, elected by the cardholder in Citi Online or at checkout, with no separate application — i.e. it rides the card networks and is not a distinct rail a merchant integrates. The United States is named only in an Apple Pay footnote and no currency code is given, which is why no US row was added. (This host returns 403 to HEAD requests but serves the page to a normal fetch.)Checked 20 October 2026
  12. Korea Times — Citibank Korea announces plan to close retail banking services · koreatimes.co.krlimits & timingUsed for Answers the question the record's notes leave open. Citibank Korea's board "approved to wind down Citi's consumer banking business in Korea", closing retail banking "in phases", maintaining services only "until relevant contracts with depositors expire". Establishes that the Korean Citi card brand is in run-off, so the single Antom row holding up KR/KRW may be listed by inertia. (Citi's own businesswire release and citibank.co.kr both return 403 to fetch.)Checked 21 October 2026
