Merchants do not pay Vodafone directly. Each payment provider that offers it sets its own rate, so compare a few and ask them to quote.

What the last check found

"Vodafone" in a gateway method list is not Vodafone Group card or carrier billing: it is Vodafone Cash, the mobile money wallet of Vodafone Ghana, and Ghana is the only country any documentation names. dLocal's Ghana page lists "Mobile Money (Vodafone)" as payment_method_id VF, payment_method_type BANK_TRANSFER, DIRECT flow only, currency GHS, refunds supported. Its mobile money page describes the flow: a push notification to the registered handset that the payer confirms with a PIN, so the sending phone number is mandatory, and the payment stays PENDING until a webhook moves it to PAID. The same rail is also a payout destination — dLocal's Ghana payouts page accepts beneficiary.instant_payment.type = VODAFONE on an INSTANT_PAYMENT wallet transfer to a +233 number, with GHS or USD allowed as the FX source currency. Flutterwave documents the same operator as a network enum value (MTN, VODAFONE, AIRTEL/TIGO) on its Ghana mobile money charge, currency must be GHS.

The catch for an integrator: the brand is gone. Telecel Group acquired 70% of Vodafone Ghana in February 2023 and launched the Telecel brand there in March 2024; Telecel Ghana's own site advertises only "Telecel Cash". Flutterwave's Ghana page already shows the drift — "At a glance" says MTN, Telecel, AIRTEL while the parameter table still says VODAFONE. Treat "Vodafone" as the legacy API label and confirm the accepted enum with your provider.

Documentation is silent on partial refunds, recurring payments, chargebacks, minimum and maximum amounts and settlement timing. Adyen, Stripe, Airwallex and Antom do not list it at all; dLocal's Egypt and Qatar pages never mention Vodafone Cash, and dLocal's Tanzania page names Vodacom, a separate listing.

Checked again on 2026-10-21 and corrected: Not a generic category — "Vodafone" here is a specific branded mobile money rail, carried as a concrete enum value (dLocal payment_method_id VF, Flutterwave network=VODAFONE). SOURCES VERIFIED (3 of 15 fetched, all coverage-bearing, all accurate — no 404s, no claim the page doesn't make): - docs.dlocal.com/docs/ghana.
