What the last check found
Two licensed entities carry MiFinity, and neither is called just "MiFinity". The brand trades from MiFinity UK Limited (NI611169, Belfast, Northern Ireland; incorporated 14 February 2012 as NXSYSTEMS LTD, renamed 24 May 2016), an FCA Authorised Electronic Money Institution under the Electronic Money Regulations 2011, register reference 900090. The FCA's firm checker gives 900090 as MiFinity UK Limited, also known as MiFinity, currently holding permission, and the FCA's published e-money register gives its status as Authorised Electronic Money Institution. The firm states the same reference on five separate pages of its own site.
The EEA licence sits with a Maltese entity. The EBA Payment Institutions Register returns exactly one MiFinity record: MIFINITY MALTA LIMITED, type PSD_EMI (e-money institution), authority MT_MFSA, national reference C64824, authorised 10 January 2020, at Tower Business Centre, Swatar, Birkirkara. It passports e-money issuance (ES_010) plus payment services (PS_010, PS_020, PS_03B, PS_05A, PS_05B) into 29 EEA states, with France listed for payment services only and not for e-money issuance. That reference is not recorded as an authorisation here: the EBA page it comes from is a JavaScript search form and MFSA's own register refused the request, so C64824 could not be resolved on any register a reader could open.
For merchants: EEA funds sit with the Malta EMI, UK and rest-of-world funds with the Belfast EMI. Both are e-money institutions, not banks, so balances are safeguarded rather than deposit-protected and no FSCS or depositor scheme applies. No authorisation was found anywhere outside the UK and Malta, so a 106-country footprint is served off those two licences. Companies House shows no corporate parent and only one UK MiFinity company, with two individual controllers (Paul Kavanagh and Kieron Nolan, 25-50% each; Mike Busher ceased in 2017). MiFinity publishes 23 countries it does not service, including the United States, Russia and Ukraine.
