Nequi is a Colombian mobile money account, not a gateway. Launched in 2015 as an intrapreneurship inside Grupo Bancolombia, it ran as a Bancolombia business line until it took its own licence as Nequi S.A. Compañía de Financiamiento (Superintendencia Financiera, Resolution 2002, October 2025) and began operating as a separate, Fogafín-insured entity on 1 September 2026. It remains wholly owned by Grupo Cibest. Its own business pages cite 20–25 million users; 2026 press reporting puts the figure near 29 million.

Single market: Colombia. There is a genuine second-country trap here. Nequi ran in Panama for seven years under Banistmo's licence and shut down on 31 December 2024, so secondary directories (Coda, for one) still describe it as "Colombia and Panama". PA should not be added.

Merchants can integrate directly. Nequi publishes /negocios/apis and /negocios/como-te-integras: register at portal-b2b.nequi.com.co, read the Conecta docs, request sandbox keys over Slack (one business day), email test-case JSON plus a video of the UX to [email protected], then wait up to four business days for production keys. The API set is QR, push-notification, subscriptions (tokenised recurring), dispersiones (real-time payouts from a Bancolombia account to Nequi users), códigos por plata, reporting and a security-token endpoint. Nequi also offers "modelos gateway" as an alternative, and EBANX, dLocal, Nuvei, Bamboo, PayU and DEUNA all expose it.

Where the documentation is silent: Nequi names no currency and no country anywhere in its API material — amounts are "plata" with a bare $ sign. COP is stated on Nequi's Bre-B page (a $3,000,000 COP per-transaction cap) and explicitly in four acquirer method pages; Nequi itself publishes no coverage list. Pricing is "depends on the product", with no figures. The old docs.conecta.nequi.com.co host no longer resolves, and developer.nequi.com.co is a JavaScript app that serves crawlers nothing — no sitemap.xml, llms.txt or robots.txt. Integration note: dLocal splits Nequi into three non-interchangeable codes (QP push, MQ mixed, QR) and warns that QR without country=CO routes to DeUna in Ecuador. Nuvei allows refunds same-day only.
