BNI is Bank Negara Indonesia, a state-owned Indonesian bank. As a payment method it is not a scheme but one bank's slot in Indonesia's virtual-account system: the gateway issues a per-transaction VA number at BNI, the customer pushes funds to it from ATM, internet or mobile banking, and the gateway matches the inbound transfer. Xendit states the country as ID, the currency IDR, a 48-hour payment-request expiry, amounts from 1 to 50,000,000,000, and explicitly that refunds, partial refunds, save-card and merchant-initiated transactions are NOT supported. Midtrans exposes it as payment type bni_va (and as "bni" in the bank-transfer object's enum alongside bca, bri, permata), defaults expiry to 24 hours, routes payment through the ATM Bersama, Prima and Alto networks, and states its platform processes IDR only. DOKU documents channel VIRTUAL_ACCOUNT_BNI with IDR amounts. For money out, dLocal lists Bank Negara Indonesia (its code 23) and Rapyd lists BANK NEGARA INDONESIA (BI code 009) among Indonesian payout banks via id_local_bank — note the two gateways use different code schemes. Where documentation is silent: no gateway states refund behaviour positively, none mentions recurring or chargebacks, and the global acquirers do not name BNI at all. Adyen documents only "Virtual Accounts Indonesia" (via DOKU, IDR processing, USD settlement, refunds), Airwallex only "Indonesian Bank Transfer", dLocal's Indonesia pay-in page only "Virtual Accounts", and Antom names BCA but not BNI. So BNI is reachable in practice mainly through Indonesian aggregators. Caveat: "BNI" also abbreviates unrelated banks (BNI Madagascar, Banque Nationale d'Investissement in Côte d'Ivoire); no doc read here used BNI for those, but if the pre-existing row meant one of them it needs its own source. Canonical name would be "BNI Virtual Account" — "BNI Bank" is redundant.
