This is a payment provider, not a payment method, and it is listed here as a provider — the coverage on this page is its own, not a method's. Filing an acquirer in the method taxonomy would put it on a page next to iDEAL, which is the mirror image of the misfiling this directory has been clearing up elsewhere. Where the write-up below refers to a recorded country or currency, this line is the correction.

Checked 2026-10-21: Pay.nl is not a payment method — it is a PSP/acquirer, and it is ALREADY IN THIS DIRECTORY as one. The record's own first sentence says "a Dutch collecting PSP and acquirer, not a payment method", its own Adyen negative check found Pay.nl absent from a 113-method catalogue, and `psps` row id 46 (slug `pay-nl`, type 'ps

Pay. (pay.nl) is the trading name of TinTel B.V., KvK 24283498, Spijkenisse — a Dutch collecting PSP and acquirer, not a payment method. It has held a DNB payment institution licence since 29 July 2013, is a Principal Member of Mastercard, Visa and EPI, and holds its own acquirer licence for iDEAL, Bancontact, American Express, Mastercard and Visa, so for those five schemes it is not reselling someone else's acquiring. Published certifications: PCI-DSS (level not stated), PCI-3DS, EMVCo 3DS Server, ISO 27001:2022, ISAE 3402, SOC 2. It claims 35,000+ businesses "in Europa"; all three offices are Dutch (Enschede, Diemen, Spijkenisse).

Provenance matters here. Pay.nl publishes no "markets we serve" or merchant-onboarding country list, and its /v2/countries and /v2/currencies reference pages carry only illustrative single-record examples — the real lists require an authenticated call. Every country row above comes from per-method market annotations in Pay.nl's own documentation. These are shopper countries, i.e. acceptance reach, not countries where a merchant can be boarded. Collective phrases were deliberately not expanded into rows: bank transfer and SEPA Direct Debit are documented as "EU landen aangevuld met Noorwegen, IJsland, Liechtenstein, Zwitserland en Monaco", and Trustly, PayPal and Alipay+ show unnamed "+16"/"+50" flag counts. Three codes in the Paysafecard list are malformed ("EI", "SL", "UR") and were dropped, so Ireland rests on AlmaPAY instead and Slovenia and Uruguay are omitted entirely. Non-EUR traffic on Alipay, WeChat, EPS and Pay by Bank is documented as auto-converted to EUR. The developer portal has no chargeback page at all; chargeback liability appears only per method in the Dutch reference.
