Paysafe

Paysafe is a payments group headquartered in London, incorporated in Bermuda and listed on the New York Stock Exchange as PSFE. It traces its history to Netbanx, founded in 1996, and to Neteller and Optimal Payments; the Paysafe Group name followed the 2015 purchase of Skrill and paysafecard. Blackstone and CVC took it private in 2017, and a SPAC merger brought it back to public markets in 2021. Bruce Lowthers has been chief executive since 2022, and the company reports around 2,800 staff in 12 countries.

It runs two businesses. Merchant Solutions provides card acquiring and gateway services, from small US and Canadian firms signed through bank-sponsored ISO arrangements to large online merchants. The Digital Wallets side covers Skrill and NETELLER plus the eCash brands paysafecard and PaysafeCash, which let people pay online with cash; each has its own listing here. Through the Payments API, the hosted Paysafe Checkout or Paysafe.js, merchants can accept Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Discover alongside Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Venmo, ACH, Interac e-Transfer, Bacs and SEPA Direct Debit, iDEAL, BLIK and the group's own wallets and vouchers. Latin American coverage, built around the acquired SafetyPay and PagoEfectivo businesses, includes Pix, Boleto, Khipu, PSE, SPEI and over-the-counter cash.

The main regulated entities are Paysafe Financial Services Limited, an FCA-authorised e-money institution, and Paysafe Payment Solutions Limited, authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland as an e-money institution and, under MiCA, a crypto-asset service provider. Brazil's central bank granted Paysafe a payment institution licence in January 2025, as its regulated betting market opened.

Regulated iGaming is the core vertical. By mid-2023 Paysafe was working with operators in 27 US jurisdictions, and it has since added bank payments and crypto deposits aimed at US sportsbooks. Video gaming, forex, retail, travel and charities are also served. Prices are quoted per merchant rather than published, and card acquiring is concentrated in North America, the UK and Europe.
