The short version
- We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
- Appearance, in your account menu, sets text size, contrast, motion, underlined links and light or dark.
- Everything can be reached with a keyboard. Some older pages are not yet as good as the rest — listed below.
- If something gets in your way, tell us and we will help directly and fix it.
1. Settings you can change
Open your account menu (top right; “Sign in” if you are not signed in) and choose Appearance:
- Text size — a larger size across the whole site.
- More contrast — darker secondary text and clearer edges.
- Reduce motion — no animation, and nothing changes on its own (such as the rotating notification line). Your device’s own “reduce motion” setting is also respected.
- Underline links — so links do not rely on colour alone.
- Light, dark or your device’s setting, and a choice of accent colours.
Your browser’s zoom works on every page; nothing stops pinch-zoom on a phone.
2. Keyboard and screen readers
Every control can be reached with Tab and used with Enter or Space, and shows a clear focus ring. Ctrl K (or /) jumps to search; Escape closes any open panel; the arrow keys move through search results.
Pages use real headings, landmarks and labelled controls; pictures that carry meaning have text alternatives, and decorative ones are hidden from screen readers. Live updates (such as a toast) are announced.
3. What we know is not right yet
- Some older pages (parts of the workdesk, some country and statistics pages) have not been rebuilt in the current design and may have weaker contrast or headings in an odd order.
- Logos of providers come from their owners and some have low contrast, particularly in dark mode. The provider’s name is always shown beside them in text.
- Swiping through sparks full-screen is easier with a pointer than a keyboard; every spark is also in the ordinary feed.
We have not yet had an independent accessibility audit. We test with keyboards, screen magnification and browser accessibility tools as we build.
4. Tell us
If anything on the site is hard to use, or you need information in another format, write to [email protected] with the page address and what happened. We aim to reply within five working days, and we will get you what you need while we fix it.
