Alliance Bank payments allow Malaysian consumers to pay merchants directly from their bank accounts using secure online banking authorization. Customers are redirected to Alliance Bank’s login interface, authenticate, and confirm payment. Funds are transferred instantly or near-instant via domestic rails. Merchants benefit from low-cost, real-time bank payments with no chargebacks. Ideal for e-commerce, bill payments, high-ticket orders, and banked users preferring direct account debits.

What Alliance Bank costs

Merchants do not pay Alliance Bank directly. Each payment provider that offers it sets its own rate, so compare a few and ask them to quote.

What the last check found

Alliance Bank is not a payment method you integrate directly — it is an issuer selection inside FPX, Malaysia's bank-transfer redirect scheme operated by PayNet. Two gateways name it explicitly. Stripe's FPX bank reference lists "Alliance Bank (Personal)" with the API value `alliance_bank`; Adyen's FPX API-only page lists "Alliance Bank" with issuer ID `fpx_abmb`. PayNet's own FPX FAQ confirms "Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad" as a participating bank. Both gateways state MY as the country and MYR as the only currency, and Stripe is explicit that FPX "must always use Ringgit" and that only Malaysia-based Stripe accounts may accept it.

For an integrator, the practical implications are: the customer is redirected to allianceonline for two-step authorisation, so no card data is handled; refunds and partial refunds are supported (Stripe allows refunds up to 60 days, settling asynchronously in up to 14 days and occasionally six weeks; Adyen also marks multiple partial refunds); recurring payments are explicitly NOT supported by either gateway; and Stripe states there is no dispute/chargeback support, because the bank authentication removes that risk. Stripe documents transaction limits of RM2 to RM30,000 and requires the merchant's Business Registration Number. Stripe's label "(Personal)" matters — this is the consumer (B2C) channel; the bank's business channel, Alliance BizSmart, is not the same FPX participant entry.

Documentation is silent in places. Airwallex, Antom and dLocal all document FPX for Malaysia in MYR with refund support, but none publishes an issuer list, so none names Alliance Bank. Rapyd, Checkout.com and Worldline publish no static FPX bank list at all. No source states payout/withdrawal or 3D Secure support for this rail.
