The Bancontact Card is a Belgian domestic debit card linked to the Bancontact payment network. Used for POS, ATM, and e-commerce transactions, it authorizes payments directly from customer accounts with EMV security and strong authentication. Online purchases typically require the Bancontact app for confirmation. Merchants receive real-time authorization, low-risk settlement, and high acceptance among Belgian consumers. Ideal for local retail, online stores, and subscription billing.

What Bancontact Card costs
Merchants do not pay Bancontact Card directly. Each payment provider that offers it sets its own rate, so compare a few and ask them to quote.

Nuvei's integration data records this as an acceptance method rather than a payout rail: it takes payments and supports refunds, but money cannot be sent out through it. The distinction matters because a "supported payment methods" list treats paying in and paying out as the same thing, and for most local rails they are not — of the methods checked in this pass, far more accept money than return it.
A single-country method, in Belgium, charged in EUR, documented by Adyen, Antom, Nuvei, Airwallex and Stripe. Nothing wrong with that — a domestic rail is usually the cheapest and highest-converting way to be paid in its own market, and the reason to care about it is precisely that it is the local default rather than a global option.
Adyen files it under "Credit and debit cards", and states it supports 3D Secure, Multiple partial refunds, Partial refunds and Recurring. Its catalog is the one place in this industry that publishes a method's countries, its processing currencies and its settlement currencies separately, which is the difference between what a customer can be charged in and what a merchant can be paid in.
One constraint that is easy to miss: a provider documenting this method also states where the MERCHANT has to be incorporated for it to be offered — Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States. Where a shopper can pay from and where a business can be registered are different questions, and it is the second one that decides whether you can sign at all.
