What SWIFT costs
Merchants do not pay SWIFT directly. Each payment provider that offers it sets its own rate, so compare a few and ask them to quote.

This is a category rather than a branded payment method, so no country or currency is recorded for it. A category that inherits one product's footprint states something false: "cash payment: 1 country" would tell a reader that paying in cash exists in one country. Where the write-up below refers to a recorded country or currency, this line is the correction.
Checked 2026-10-21: SWIFT is a generic category, and the record already reaches that conclusion itself with empty arrays — I checked it rather than took it. STEP 1 (category).

SWIFT is not a payment method; it is the messaging network that payment instructions travel over. S.W.I.F.T. SC is a Belgian cooperative in La Hulpe, founded 3 May 1973 and owned by its member banks, overseen by the G10 central banks with the National Bank of Belgium in the lead role. On its 2015 figures it linked more than 11,000 financial institutions in over 200 countries and territories. Critically, it carries instructions but does not hold third-party funds, manage accounts, clear or settle — settlement happens afterwards through a payment system or between correspondent bank accounts. A country list for SWIFT would be either 200+ territories or a fiction, and neither helps an integrator, so this is typed as a generic category with no coverage rows.
What belongs under it: international and domestic wire transfers, correspondent banking, and the BIC-addressed rails that gateways expose under names like "Bank transfer", "Wire transfer" or "International bank transfer".
No gateway catalogue carries SWIFT as a checkout method. It is absent from Adyen's 113 methods, Airwallex's 98, Antom's 109 and Stripe's 64. Where it does appear it is a payout rail or a funding network. Rapyd documents payout method type `xx_swift_bank`, "Global SWIFT" (Enterprise feature), category `bank`, requiring `bic_swift` plus an account number or IBAN; sender currencies USD, EUR, GBP, CHF, AUD, SGD, HKD, SEK, NOK, DKK, ISK. Stripe names SWIFT only as a way to fund its `customer_balance` bank transfer — accepted in the United States, in USD only — and states it does not support refunds for international wires.
Documentation is silent on acceptance economics, and swift.com itself returned HTTP 403 to automated fetches.

- Rapyd docs — SWIFT Payout · docs.rapyd.netUsed for That Rapyd documents SWIFT as a PAYOUT method only (payout method type `xx_swift_bank`, name "Global SWIFT", category `bank`, Enterprise feature), the `bic_swift` and account_number/IBAN beneficiary requirements, and sender currencies USD, SGD, SEK, NOK, ISK, HKD, GBP, EUR, DKK, CHF, AUD. Supports the "payouts" feature entry and the finding that it is a payout rail rather than a pay-in method.Checked 20 October 2026
- Stripe docs — Bank transfer payments · docs.stripe.comUsed for That Stripe treats SWIFT as a funding network behind its generic `customer_balance` bank transfer, not as its own method: "Bank transfers users in the following regions can accept domestic and international wire transfers (SWIFT): The United States", "US accounts support SWIFT transfers in USD only", and "Stripe doesn't support refunds for international wires" — the reason refunds are NOT listed as a feature.Checked 20 October 2026

- Stripe payment method support matrix (64 methods) · docs.stripe.comUsed for Negative evidence: the words SWIFT and wire do not occur in the matrix at all; bank transfers appear only as the generic "Bank transfers" row (EUR, GBP, JPY, MXN, USD; EU, JP, MX, GB, US) with API enum `customer_balance`.Checked 20 October 2026
- Rapyd docs llms.txt index · docs.rapyd.netUsed for Establishing that a real SWIFT page exists rather than guessing a path — the index names "SWIFT Payout" and "BIC/SWIFT Numbers for Testing" — and distinguishing "could not find it" from "nobody publishes it".Checked 20 October 2026
- Rapyd docs — Bank Transfers · docs.rapyd.netUsed for That Rapyd's pay-in `bank_transfer` category page does not name SWIFT or wire transfers at all, referring only to IBAN for sending funds internationally — reinforcing that SWIFT is not exposed as a pay-in method.Checked 20 October 2026
