Crypto payments enable customers to pay with cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and stablecoins. Transactions occur on blockchain networks, offering irreversible settlement and reduced fraud. Merchants typically use payment gateways that convert crypto to fiat instantly to avoid volatility risk. Suitable for global e-commerce, digital services, high-tech markets, and cross-border purchases requiring fast, borderless, low-cost digital asset transfers without traditional bank rails.
What Crypto costs
Merchants do not pay Crypto directly. Each payment provider that offers it sets its own rate, so compare a few and ask them to quote.

This is a category rather than a branded payment method, and it is recorded with no countries and no currencies deliberately. A category that inherits a specific product's footprint tells a reader something false — "buy now pay later" is not available only where one lender is.
"Crypto" (slug `crypto`) is a generic category, not a branded payment method. It names a KIND of payment — paying with cryptocurrency or stablecoins — in exactly the way "Credit Card", "E-wallet" and "Bank transfer" do. There is no company or product called "Crypto"; every actual implementation carries its own brand (Coinbase Commerce, BitPay, OXAPay, Binance Pay, Stripe's own stablecoin product). So per rule 1: is_generic_category=true, countries and currencies empty.
On the Stripe pairing: the match is token-only ("crypto") and it is a false positive of the most misleading kind, because Stripe's internal API type string is literally `crypto` while the method Stripe sells under it is named "Stablecoin payments" / "Stablecoins and crypto". That is one specific branded product: the customer is redirected to crypto.stripe.com, only USDC (Tempo, Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, Base), USDP and USDG are accepted, presentment is USD, business locations are US live with the EU, Hong Kong, Mexico and Switzerland in private preview, and a 10,000 USD per-transaction cap applies. Writing that footprint onto the category row would publish the claim that crypto payments exist in USD only, for US-based businesses only — the exact category-inherits-product error the rule forbids. Bitcoin acceptance in Nigeria or USDT settlement in Turkey has nothing to do with Stripe's eligibility list. Hence same_method=false.
One thing for the maintainers, outside what I can change here: the listing already holds 1 country row and 1 currency row. A generic category should hold none, and given the name those two are almost certainly an earlier inheritance of this same Stripe row (US / USD). They cannot be removed through the importer, which has no delete path, so they need flagging as unverified or clearing by hand.
I did not conclude "nobody publishes it" anywhere — Stripe publishes its figures clearly and I fetched them. The empty arrays are a deliberate category decision, not a failed search.
