Card payments are a type of payment that include credit, debit, prepaid, and charge cards processed through global schemes such as Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Transactions are authorized in real time via card networks, with settlement following standardized clearing cycles. Merchants benefit from global acceptance, fraud tools, and chargeback frameworks. Ideal for e-commerce, retail, travel, and subscription services requiring broad payment coverage and mature infrastructure.

What Cards costs

Merchants do not pay Cards directly. Each payment provider that offers it sets its own rate, so compare a few and ask them to quote.

What the last check found

This is a category, not a payment method, and it is recorded here with no countries and no currencies on purpose.

Eleven providers in this directory list "cards" as something they accept — EBANX, HiPay, Kushki, MiFinity, Orca, Paysafe, Payz, Rapyd, Stripe, Worldpay and dLocal — which makes it the most widely offered entry in the taxonomy. None of them means the same thing by it. Card acceptance is not one capability: it is a different acquiring relationship, a different scheme fee, a different chargeback regime and often a different legal entity in every market, and the schemes themselves have wildly different reach.

That is why a country list here would be worse than useless. The schemes it covers, with the footprints their own documentation supports, are American Express in 46 countries, Mastercard in 44, Visa in 44, UnionPay in 43, Diners in 41 and Maestro in 32 — alongside domestic-only schemes that exist in exactly one country each: Dankort in Denmark, Elo and Hipercard in Brazil, Argencard and Naranja in Argentina, RuPay in India, Bancontact Card in Belgium. A merchant told "cards: 44 countries" would reasonably conclude they could take a Brazilian Elo card in Denmark.

So read this entry as a pointer rather than a claim. The question worth asking a provider is not whether it takes cards but which schemes it acquires for, in which of your markets, as the acquirer or through somebody else's licence — and that answer lives on the individual scheme pages and on each provider's listing, not here.
