Fawry is an Egyptian electronic payments company founded in 2008 by Ashraf Sabry with Raya Holding, and listed on the Egyptian Exchange under the ticker FWRY. Its legal name is Fawry Banking and Payment Technology Services. For most Egyptians the name stands for a way to pay bills, top-ups and online orders: in cash at a Fawry point, through the myfawry app, or at one of its terminals. Forbes Middle East counted 53.1 million customers and 372,400 POS terminals at the end of 2024.
As a checkout option, Fawry works like a cash voucher. The shopper picks Fawry, gets a reference number, often by SMS, and pays it at a Fawry outlet or in the myfawry app before it expires. The merchant is told once the money is in. dLocal's documentation describes references valid for up to 30 days, a minimum of 5 Egyptian pounds and support for refunds. Merchants abroad usually reach Fawry through cross-border providers: dLocal, EBANX and Nuvei all offer it for Egypt, in Egyptian pounds.
Fawry also sells to businesses directly. Its business arm serves large companies, small firms and financial institutions, runs its own POS terminals and launched Fawry Business in February 2025. In 2026 it announced links between its Tap N Pay app and terminals and the Odoo, DMS and Retail Pro systems. Consumers can also use it for cash deposits and withdrawals, consumer finance, insurance and the FawryPlus service. Fawry holds PCI DSS 4.0 certification. Merchant pricing is not published.
For an online shop selling to Egypt, Fawry matters because many customers still prefer cash or have no card, so offering it next to cards and wallets lets more people pay. The drawbacks are those of any cash voucher: the sale waits until the customer visits a point or opens the app, unpaid references lapse, and the method works only in Egypt.
What Fawry costs
Fawry quotes per merchant. What you are offered depends on your volume, your industry, the countries you sell in, your card mix and your risk profile — so a published headline rate would not be your rate. Ask them for a quote against your own numbers.

- Payment confirmed when the customer pays the reference; reference valid up to 30 days (dLocal)
Pricing, in detail
Fawry does not publish merchant pricing; PSPs that resell the method set their own rates.
What the last check found
Fawry's own subpages (business, investor relations, about) returned 403, so company facts rest on the homepage and Forbes Middle East; no Fawry merchant-gateway (FawryPay) documentation could be reached, so card and wallet acceptance on Fawry's own gateway is not recorded. Fawry's Central Bank of Egypt and FRA licences were not verified, so regulation is empty. The settlement field describes the shopper's payment window, not merchant payout timing, which depends on the PSP. Forbes lists the founders as Ashraf Sabry and Raya Holdings Group.
