Eway is an online payment gateway founded in Australia in 1998 by Matt Bullock. Global Payments, the US processor, bought it in April 2016, and the business still trades under its own name through Web Active Corporation, its Australian operating company. Eway says it works in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau, with more than 310 staff.
Merchants can use it in two ways. The all-in-one Online Payments product includes the merchant account, so a business can go live without asking its bank for a facility. Gateway Services is for merchants who already have a merchant facility and only need the technology. Either way, the Rapid API offers a hosted responsive payment page, an iframe, secure fields, a transparent redirect and a direct server connection, with 3D Secure, stored card tokens for repeat billing and a sandbox. Eway counts more than 250 shopping-cart and software integrations, among them Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce, OpenCart, NetSuite and Xero.
The Australian Online Payments plan costs 1.5% plus 25c per Visa, Mastercard or American Express transaction, with no setup fee, monthly fee or lock-in, and basic fraud screening included; stronger fraud tiers cost extra. The API also recognises Diners Club and JCB cards and supports Apple Pay. In Australia, Eway has added PayTo, the real-time account-to-account payment that lets customers approve debits in their banking app.
Eway suits small and mid-sized online businesses in Australia and New Zealand, particularly those whose cart or billing software already has an Eway plug-in. It is a card-not-present service and does not sell terminals today. The Australian site also mentions a 1.99% fee on international credit cards, which sits awkwardly beside the flat-rate offer, so ask how overseas cards will be charged before you sign.

What Eway costs
Eway quotes per merchant. What you are offered depends on your volume, your industry, the countries you sell in, your card mix and your risk profile — so a published headline rate would not be your rate. Ask them for a quote against your own numbers.
Pricing, in detail
Australia, Online Payments: 1.5% + 25c per Visa, Mastercard or Amex transaction, domestic or international; no setup, monthly or lock-in fees. Eway's AU homepage also lists a 1.99% international credit card fee. Gateway Services and Enterprise pricing not published in figures. Fraud tiers above Lite cost extra.
What the last check found
Eway still trades under its own brand as part of Global Payments (listed separately as global-payments), so it is kept as its own listing. Pricing conflict: the AU pricing page says the 1.5% + 25c rate applies to domestic and international cards, while the AU homepage lists a 1.99% international credit card fee; mdr_to left null. Currencies: the API documents ISO codes with AUD and NZD sandbox portals; HKD, SGD and MOP are likely for the Asian sites but no source lists them. Card codes in the API include Diners and JCB (and legacy Maestro, Solo, Laser, Discover codes), but no source confirms Discover acceptance today, so it is left out. PayTo is listed on the AU site only. Wikipedia says Eway entered Malaysia in 2014; Malaysia is not on Eway's current list of five countries. A 2016 report put the purchase price at about US$50m (unconfirmed). No licence is shown on Eway's sites.
