Card payment providers

Card payments cover credit, debit and prepaid cards on networks such as Visa, Mastercard, American Express, UnionPay and domestic schemes. To accept them a merchant needs an acquirer — directly or through a payment service provider — and pays a merchant discount rate made up of interchange, scheme fees and the acquirer’s margin. Cards are still the most widely accepted online payment method worldwide.
