Monext is a French payment processor based in Aix-en-Provence. It began in 2008, when Experian sold its payments business to the fund Advent International, and Crédit Mutuel Arkéa became its sole shareholder in 2010. A payment institution licence from the ACPR followed in 2019. The company reports about 400 staff in France, 12,000 merchants, more than 150 financial institutions as clients and over seven billion transactions a year.
Its online gateway, long known as Payline, is now sold as Monext Online, next to in-store acceptance, acquiring and card issuing. Merchants can use hosted or embedded payment pages, APIs, iOS and Android SDKs, or plug-ins published on GitHub for WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Magento, Sylius, Salesforce Commerce Cloud and commercetools. The method list leans French: CB, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Diners, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, PayPal and Click to Pay, instalments from Oney, FLOA, Cetelem, Cofidis, Younited and Klarna, plus ANCV holiday vouchers, digital meal vouchers and several French gift cards. Bancontact, iDEAL, MB WAY, Multibanco, Satispay, PostFinance and Wero cover nearby markets.
In store, Monext supplies Verifone terminals and a SoftPOS app that turns an Android phone or tablet into a card reader. Its routing can send each transaction to whichever of a merchant's bank contracts suits it best by country or amount. Monext says in-store funds arrive within 24 hours, or the next day for international payments. Prices are not published.
Monext fits mid-sized and large French merchants in travel, events, betting and retail that want one processor for web and shop payments and care about local options such as CB and holiday vouchers. Customers named on its site include the betting operator PMU and Cinémas CGR. Its reach outside France is narrower: the company mentions clients in Spain, Belgium and Portugal but does not publish a list of countries where it signs merchants.

What Monext costs
Monext quotes per merchant. What you are offered depends on your volume, your industry, the countries you sell in, your card mix and your risk profile — so a published headline rate would not be your rate. Ask them for a quote against your own numbers.
- Settlement
- Within 24 hours for in-store payments; next day for international payments

What the last check found
Monext publishes no country list; countries are those where it offers a local method or names clients (FR, BE, ES, PT, NL, IT, CH), low confidence. The legal notice states ACPR payment-institution status but gives no CIB/REGAFI number, so reference is null. Ownership: Monext's own history page says Arkéa became sole shareholder in 2010 and does not state the current structure; not re-checked elsewhere (web search unavailable during this run). The Payline name now survives mainly in developer repos (the Sylius plug-in); the product is marketed as Monext Online. Payconiq is listed but ends December 2025 (replaced by Wero), and Giropay has closed, so both are left out. Total Fleet, CPay (Cetelem card), Cadhoc, Illicado, PassCadeau, Bimply and Spirit of Cadeau are also listed by Monext and not added as terms. Currencies not stated; EUR only recorded.
