PagBank is the trading name of PagSeguro Digital, a São Paulo-run payments group that began in 2006 as the payments arm of the internet portal UOL, still its controlling shareholder. The company has been listed in New York since 2018 and swapped the PagSeguro name for PagBank in 2023, although plug-ins and older contracts often carry both. Its main operating company has held a Banco Central do Brasil payment institution licence since October 2018, covering acquiring, e-money, credit cards and Pix payment initiation, and the group also owns a bank, BancoSeguro.
Most of its 6.3 million active merchants are small Brazilian businesses using Moderninha and Minizinha card machines or tap-to-pay on a phone. Online, the PagBank checkout and payment links accept Visa, Mastercard, Elo, American Express, Hipercard, Hiper, Cabal and Diners credit cards, debit cards, Pix, boleto, Apple Pay and Google Pay, with up to 18 instalments. PagBank publishes its own WooCommerce plug-in and has connectors for Magento, VTEX and Nuvemshop, alongside the API.
Standard online prices are public. Pix costs 1.89% and is paid out within the hour. Credit cards and boletos cost 4.99% plus R$0.40 when the money is released after 14 days, or 3.99% plus R$0.40 at 30 days, and negotiated rates can be lower. The merchant account doubles as a business current account, and the group sells working-capital loans, insurance and investments alongside it.
The service is built for sellers in Brazil and settles in reais. Its latest annual report also mentions cross-border activity in Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru without describing it, so foreign merchants wanting Pix and boleto without a local company will usually be better served by a cross-border provider. Larger retailers should negotiate, since the published prices are aimed at small sellers.

What PagBank costs
PagBank quotes per merchant. What you are offered depends on your volume, your industry, the countries you sell in, your card mix and your risk profile — so a published headline rate would not be your rate. Ask them for a quote against your own numbers.
- Settlement
- Pix within an hour; cards and boleto released after 14 or 30 days, depending on the rate chosen

What the last check found
Named PagBank (the trading name since May 2023); slug kept as pagseguro. The 20-F (FY2025) reports over 34 million clients and 6.3 million active merchants, and lists Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru as countries where it acts as a cross-border PSP, without detail; only Brazil is recorded. The CNPJ is used as the identifier, following the EBANX precedent; no BCB register entry was opened. Hiper (Itaú's card brand) is not in the taxonomy and is proposed as a new term. Magento and Nuvemshop connectors are listed in PagBank's developer docs (seen only in search results); the Magento 2 module on Adobe Marketplace is built by a third-party partner. Moip/Wirecard Brazil gave up its licence in October 2025.
