NAB Merchant Services is the card acceptance business of National Australia Bank, one of Australia's four major banks, based in Melbourne. NAB acquires Visa, Mastercard, eftpos and UnionPay transactions itself and sells terminals, an online gateway and billing products to its business customers. The bank is an authorised deposit-taking institution supervised by APRA and holds Australian financial services and credit licence 230686.
In store, merchants choose a standalone QT850 terminal with 4G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, or an integrated Ingenico Move 5000 that links to more than 800 accredited point-of-sale systems through Linkly or POSGate. NAB Easy Tap turns an Android phone into a contactless reader. American Express cards and the Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay wallets are accepted alongside the four schemes NAB acquires. For online sales, NAB Gateway connects to more than 80 business platforms, or a merchant can pair a NAB eCommerce merchant account with an accredited third-party gateway. NAB Direct Debit and BPAY cover invoices and repeat billing.
Standard prices are published. Simple Pricing on terminals is a flat 1.05% on Visa, Mastercard, eftpos and UnionPay cards plus $25 a month rental, with no setup fee or fixed term. NAB Gateway costs $30 a month plus 1.30% and 25c per transaction. Larger merchants can negotiate, including interchange-plus-plus pricing. Takings settled to a NAB business account by 9:30pm (AEST/AEDT) arrive the same day, seven days a week, while eCommerce merchant accounts settle overnight.
NAB suits Australian businesses that already bank with it or want acquiring from a major bank. It does not serve merchants abroad; its New Zealand subsidiary, Bank of New Zealand, is a separate brand. Wallets such as Alipay and WeChat Pay are not listed on NAB's pages, so ask before relying on them, and check how the Reserve Bank's 2026 changes to card costs and surcharging affect your pricing.

What NAB Merchant Services costs
NAB Merchant Services quotes per merchant. What you are offered depends on your volume, your industry, the countries you sell in, your card mix and your risk profile — so a published headline rate would not be your rate. Ask them for a quote against your own numbers.
- Settlement
- Same day to a NAB business account for transactions settled by 9:30pm AEST; overnight for eCommerce accounts

What the last check found
This listing covers NAB's merchant acquiring business, not the whole bank. Founded year is the bank's (Wikipedia infobox: 1 October 1981 as National Commercial Banking Corporation of Australia; the merger forming NAB completed in 1982). Pricing changed recently: a search snippet of an older NAB page showed 1.15% Simple Pricing, the current EFTPOS page shows 1.05%. NAB Gateway monthly fee is $30 vs $25 terminal rental; monthly_fee records the terminal rental. Amex is listed in NAB's EFTPOS FAQ, but NAB does not say whether it acquires Amex itself or the merchant needs a direct Amex agreement. Diners, JCB, Alipay and WeChat Pay are not mentioned on NAB's merchant pages and are left out. NAB Transact and NAB Portal Pay also appear as login links; their status (legacy or current) is unclear. BPAY has no taxonomy term and is proposed in new_terms. AFSL/ACL 230686 was read on NAB's own page footer, not on ASIC's register.
