Paymob is a payments company founded in Egypt in 2015 by Islam Shawky, Alain El Hajj and Mostafa Menessy. Press coverage credits it with the Central Bank of Egypt's first payment facilitator licence for a fintech, in 2018. It has since won a Retail Payment Services licence from the Central Bank of the UAE in 2025 and a payment service provider licence from the Central Bank of Oman, and it also operates in Saudi Arabia. Forbes Middle East puts its customer base at about 390,000 merchants and its total funding at $90 million after a $22 million Series B extension in 2024.
Merchants get online checkout, payment links (Quicklinks), subscriptions, payouts, POS terminals and Tap to Pay on phones. Cards from Visa, Mastercard, American Express, UnionPay and JCB are accepted, as are the regional schemes mada, OmanNet and the UAE's Jaywan. Each country then adds its own options. In Egypt that means mobile wallets, kiosk cash payments, bank instalments and consumer-finance brands such as ValU, Souhoola, Aman, Halan, Premium, Sympl, Forsa and Contact. The UAE and Saudi Arabia get Apple Pay, Google Pay, Tabby and Tamara, with stc pay in Saudi Arabia. Plug-ins cover Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, OpenCart, PrestaShop and Odoo, with SDKs for iOS, Flutter and React Native.
We could not find a public rate card. Fees are set in each merchant's application form, and Paymob's UAE terms set a monthly minimum of AED 10,000 in transactions, with a charge of AED 110 a month for merchants below it. The same terms let Paymob hold disputed funds for up to 120 days.
Paymob suits businesses selling in Egypt that need instalment and cash options next to cards, and regional merchants who want one provider across Egypt and the Gulf. Pakistan was once a Paymob market, but Odoo's documentation now says Paymob has stopped serving it, so confirm current coverage before you sign.

What Paymob costs
Paymob quotes per merchant. What you are offered depends on your volume, your industry, the countries you sell in, your card mix and your risk profile — so a published headline rate would not be your rate. Ask them for a quote against your own numbers.
Pricing, in detail
No pricing page could be reached; fees are set in the merchant application form. UAE terms: AED 10,000 monthly transaction minimum, AED 110/month if missed. Third-party sites quote 2.75% + EGP 3 for Egypt (not verified with Paymob).
What the last check found
Pakistan conflict: Paymob's WooCommerce plug-in page still lists Pakistan (EasyPaisa, JazzCash) and Forbes lists it as a market, but Odoo's documentation says Paymob has stopped serving Pakistan, so PK is not recorded. The CBE payment facilitator licence (2018) and the Saudi Payments PTSP certification (May 2023) come from press coverage seen only in search results; neither was checked on a register, so the CBE entry has no URL and the Saudi certification is not recorded as a licence. The paymob.com pricing page and FAQ answers could not be reached (404 or not rendered), so no fees are recorded. Egypt 'wallets' (mobile wallets) and 'Kiosk' are mapped to the generic e-wallet and cash-payment keys; Paymob does not name the wallets or kiosk networks on the pages seen. Meeza and InstaPay were not confirmed (the plug-in says InstaPay is launching soon). Several instalment brands are proposed as new terms; 'Premium' (shown as Premium6 in the plug-in) and 'Contact' need a reviewer to confirm the exact brand names.
