PayTabs was founded in January 2014 by the Saudi entrepreneur Abdulaziz Al Jouf, who still runs the group as chief executive, and it began processing payments that March. It started as an affordable online gateway for small merchants in the region and now presents itself as payment infrastructure, selling orchestration to banks, fintechs and government bodies alongside its merchant gateway. It bought Paymes, a Turkish social-commerce platform, in 2021, followed by India's OGS PayLab, and in March 2025 took full control of PayTabs Egypt, previously a joint venture with EFG Hermes.
Merchants can be onboarded in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman and Iraq, which PayTabs entered in 2021. Card acceptance covers Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, UnionPay and Maestro, plus the domestic schemes mada, KNET, Meeza and OmanNet. Wallets include Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, PayPal, STC Pay and urpay. For instalments, PayTabs connects Tabby, Tamara, valU and Souhoola, and Egyptian lenders such as Aman, Forsa and Halan. What is available depends on the country.
Integration options include a hosted payment page, a self-hosted page, mobile SDKs, QR payments and plug-ins for WooCommerce, Magento, OpenCart, PrestaShop, Shopify and WHMCS, and subscriptions are supported. Soft POS (tap to pay on a phone) runs in Jordan, Egypt and Iraq. Gateway pricing is not published. The only public rate card is for Paymes, a Saudi app for payment links, at SAR 49 a month, 1% on mada and 2.25% plus SAR 1 on credit cards, which PayTabs describes as trial pricing.
PayTabs suits merchants that sell across several Arab markets and want domestic schemes and local instalment lenders through one contract, particularly in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Its website carries no licensing statement, so ask which PayTabs entity and which licence will cover your contract in your country.

What PayTabs costs
PayTabs quotes per merchant. What you are offered depends on your volume, your industry, the countries you sell in, your card mix and your risk profile — so a published headline rate would not be your rate. Ask them for a quote against your own numbers.
Pricing, in detail
Gateway and orchestration pricing on request. Only the Paymes app (Saudi Arabia) has public prices: SAR 49/month (+SAR 20 for SoftPOS), mada 1%, credit cards 2.25% + SAR 1, labelled a testing-phase price.
What the last check found
Headquarters is given as Riyadh by business directories, not by PayTabs itself; early press often described it as Bahrain-based, so treat hq_country as medium confidence. Country list is the seven markets named by Payhip and Mewayz integration pages and matched by PayTabs' own country pages; the site's selector also shows Qatar and Türkiye, Morocco appears under issuing, and the timeline says it entered Palestine in 2023 (no taxonomy code); these are not recorded as onboarding countries. Methods come from logo strips on paytabs.com and Payhip's list; tru, touchpoints and SADAD appear only in Payhip's list and were left out. No licence (SAMA, CBE or other) could be confirmed from a register or PayTabs page, so regulation is empty. The support-portal URL appeared in search results and was not fetched. Founded-year conflict: Arab News also gives 2013. New method terms proposed: urpay, Souhoola, Aman, Forsa, Halan (Egyptian consumer-finance brands).
