Bank Transfer is a direct account-to-account payment method where customers instruct their bank to send funds via domestic or international rails; it is the primitive form of an A2A (account-to-account) payment. Depending on region, transfers may process instantly or within standard clearing windows. Merchants benefit from low fees, strong payer authentication, and low fraud risk due to bank-level verification. Ideal for high-value orders, B2B payments, invoicing, marketplaces, and cashless economies prioritizing bank-based transactions.

What Bank Transfer costs

Merchants do not pay Bank Transfer directly. Each payment provider that offers it sets its own rate, so compare a few and ask them to quote.

Nuvei's integration data records this as an acceptance method rather than a payout rail: it takes payments and supports refunds, but money cannot be sent out through it. The distinction matters because a "supported payment methods" list treats paying in and paying out as the same thing, and for most local rails they are not — of the methods checked in this pass, far more accept money than return it.

The gateways that carry this method do not agree on where it works, and each is right about itself. Adyen documents it in Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Germany, Estonia, Spain and 14 more, while Antom documents it in South Korea; and Nuvei documents it in Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Germany and 21 more. A gateway states the markets where IT has licensed and built the rail, not the markets where the rail exists, so the union recorded here — Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Germany, Estonia, Spain, Finland, France and 19 more — is what somebody could reach across providers, not what any one of them will give you. Which countries you actually get depends on who you sign with.

Adyen files it under "Bank transfer", and states it supports Multiple partial refunds, Partial refunds and Recurring. Its catalog is the one place in this industry that publishes a method's countries, its processing currencies and its settlement currencies separately, which is the difference between what a customer can be charged in and what a merchant can be paid in.

One constraint that is easy to miss: a provider documenting this method also states where the MERCHANT has to be incorporated for it to be offered — Hong Kong, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States. Where a shopper can pay from and where a business can be registered are different questions, and it is the second one that decides whether you can sign at all.

This pass adds coverage rather than confirming it: the listing held 0 countries and the gateway documentation states 29. Nothing was removed — the earlier rows stand — but the figure now has a source behind it.
