Xendit is a Southeast Asian payment gateway founded in 2015 and based in Jakarta, a Y Combinator company that raised a $300 million Series D in 2022. Bank Indonesia licensed it as a payment gateway in February 2020. It works in Indonesia and the Philippines, and since 2023 in Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. Its Malaysian business builds on Payex, a local gateway it acquired.
The point of Xendit is local methods, which matter more than cards in most of these markets. In Indonesia that means bank virtual accounts, QRIS, e-wallets such as OVO, DANA, ShopeePay and LinkAja, and cash at Alfamart and Indomaret. In the Philippines it means GCash, Maya, GrabPay and QR Ph, and in Malaysia FPX online banking, DuitNow QR, Touch 'n Go and Boost. Thailand and Vietnam add PromptPay, TrueMoney, VietQR, MoMo and ZaloPay. Cards (Visa, Mastercard and JCB), direct debit and buy-now-pay-later options such as Kredivo and BillEase are also available.
Xendit also handles money going out, which marketplaces, lenders and payroll platforms use to pay sellers, borrowers and staff in bulk. Pricing is published by country and method, usually as a percentage for cards and wallets and a flat fee for virtual accounts and transfers.
It suits businesses selling into Southeast Asia that want local methods from one contract, especially in Indonesia and the Philippines, where coverage is deepest. In the newer markets Xendit relies more on partner banks, so confirm settlement times and method availability there before launch.
What Xendit costs
Xendit quotes per merchant. What you are offered depends on your volume, your industry, the countries you sell in, your card mix and your risk profile — so a published headline rate would not be your rate. Ask them for a quote against your own numbers.
Pricing, in detail
Published per country and method (percentage for cards and e-wallets, flat fee for virtual accounts and disbursements).
What the last check found
Philippine licence (BSP) and the Malaysian, Thai and Vietnamese positions were not confirmed from regulators' registers, so only the Bank Indonesia licence is recorded. Method list is per country; not every method is available to every merchant.
