Satispay is a mobile payment network started in 2013 in Cuneo, Italy, by Alberto Dalmasso, Dario Brignone and Samuele Pinta. The app went live in 2015 and the company is now based in Milan. Its payment services come from Satispay Europe S.A., an electronic money institution supervised by Luxembourg's CSSF and entered in its register as W00000010. The licence moved from the UK to Luxembourg in 2019 because of Brexit. A 2022 funding round valued the business at more than €1 billion.
Shoppers pay from a Satispay balance linked to their bank account rather than with a card, in store through the app and online through a web button or redirect. Italy is where the network is concentrated. Satispay's website now covers only Italy, France and Luxembourg, and an older German site redirects to the Italian one. The company reports more than 450,000 merchants and 6.5 million users. Consumers also use the app for transfers to friends, bills including Italy's pagoPA, meal vouchers and savings.
In-store pricing is simple. Payments under €10 are free and larger ones cost 0.95%, or 0.5% for Italian tobacconists and newsagents. Sign-up and payouts to the merchant's bank are free, and optional premium plans, which add in-app visibility and other extras, start at €29.90 a month before VAT. Online sellers and vending machines pay separate rates that the pricing page does not list. Satispay maintains its own plugins for Shopify, Shopware, WooCommerce, PrestaShop and Magento 2, and its API supports refunds, server callbacks and pre-authorised automatic payments for subscriptions.
It suits Italian cafés, bars, newsagents and other small-ticket businesses where card fees eat into margins. Merchants elsewhere in the euro area can add it through PSPs including Mollie, Pay.nl and PayPal, but Mollie notes that Italy is where it is popular, and the service runs in euros only.

What Satispay costs
Satispay quotes per merchant. What you are offered depends on your volume, your industry, the countries you sell in, your card mix and your risk profile — so a published headline rate would not be your rate. Ask them for a quote against your own numbers.
Pricing, in detail
Physical stores: free under €10, 0.95% at €10 or more; tobacconists and newsagents (primary activity in the Italian Chamber of Commerce extract) 0.5% at €10 or more. Sign-up, payouts and cancellation free. Optional premium plans €29.90, €99.90 or €299.90 a month (ex VAT). E-commerce and vending machines: standard conditions for those businesses apply, not listed on the page.
What the last check found
Countries are the three markets Satispay's own site covers (Italy, France, Luxembourg). Satispay launched in Germany in 2020, but satispay.com/de-de now redirects to the Italian site, so Germany is not recorded. PSP pages list wider acceptance (Pay.nl: IT, DE, FR, AT, BE, LU; Mollie: IT, FR, LU, AT, BE and other EEA countries; PayPal: 18 euro-area seller countries), but those are PSP or merchant countries, not confirmed consumer markets. Viva.com's help page (merchant onboarding in IT, FR, LU) appeared in search results but timed out when fetched; Viva.com is not yet in listings-prod, so it has no slug. Online pricing is not on Satispay's page; a plugin directory quotes 1.5% under €10 and 1.5% + €0.20 above, unverified and not recorded. Via Mollie, Satispay costs 1.50% + €0.25 and settles after three business days; Satispay's own payout timing is not stated. Italian Wikipedia names Momentum S.p.A. as the parent company; this was not confirmed elsewhere, so parent_company is null. Satispay Invest S.A. (investment services) and SatisWelfare S.p.A. (premium plans) are separate group companies. The CSSF register entry itself was not opened; the EMI number is from Satispay's footer. The €1bn valuation is from Wikipedia.
